Public Issues Committee

Committee Goal 1. Committee will keep abreast of legislative matters and public issues that are of interest to ESP members and keep membership informed of these matters

  • Email alerts concerning emerging legislative and/or public issues which have implications to Extension employees and/or Extension clientele will be distributed as needed to all Extension associations.

Committee Goal 2. Committee will assist in building membership advocacy capacity and capacity for addressing emerging issues

  • Committee will have regular conference calls and/or communicate through committee newsletters to address emerging issues; any relevant public issues and legislative issues will be transferred via news articles, webinars, factsheets, issue briefs with National ESP Board and chapter membership.

  • Articles will be written and published in the Connections newsletter related to public issues education.

  • Public Issues Committee will have 2 face-to-face meetings during the national conference in Colorado. Committee Members and all interested ESP members will be invited to attend.

  • Develop educational opportunities and resources to build member capacity

    • Contribute to planning, promoting, implementing, and evaluating the 2019 National Public Issues Leadership Development Conference (PILD).

  • Plan and conduct a themed Elevator Speech Contest at 2019 National ESP Conference.

  • Publish monthly tips on the ESP Facebook page about current public issues information and resources.

  • Utilize social media platforms to provide short video clips around public issues education monthly
