ESP SUPPORTS CAMPAIGN TO
SECURE U.S. POSTAL STAMP
HONORING DR. SEAMAN A. KNAPP
"FATHER OF EXTENSION"
National efforts are underway to secure a U.S. postal stamp issued in recognition of the "Father of Extension" Dr. Seaman A. Knapp. The 1999 National Epsilon Sigma Phi Board received information on the Knapp
Stamp campaign from Dr. Knapp's great grandson, Dr. Roger Seaman A. Knapp of Irving, Texas. This is a wonderful tribute to one whose vision, educational outreach and leadership initially shaped the foundations of Cooperative Extension. Similar efforts achieved the issuance of a 55-cent Justin Morrill Definitve Stamp and self-adhesive pane of 20 in July. Cooperative Extension celebrated its 85th anniversary in 1999.
Your assistance is needed to contact the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee in support of the nomination of Dr. Seaman A. Knapp for a commemorative stamp. This committee has set criteria and guidelines that must be followed. (Press here to review the criteria and guidelines)
ESP National Board encourages you to write a letter of support for this nobel leader's commemorative stamp selection. In addition, enlist others in ESP, your state and Extension Advisory Board members to write a letter. Letters should be addressed and mailed to the following committee:
