In Extension, we are constantly looking for programming partners. When looking for partners, we often consider other agencies, organizations, groups, and cooperators. We often overlook a unique partner, our own universities. Land-grant universities provide a wealth of opportunities for programming partnerships. Many university departments and programs have the resources and sometimes funding for programs but lack the expertise and outreach connections that Extension can provide. What results is a natural partnership that benefits both the university and Extension.
This session will start with a short presentation based on the results of a sabbatical study. Numerous examples of successful partnerships will be cited as well as examples of opportunities for partnerships. After a group discussion, participants will be able to share their example of partnerships with the university or colleges and provide assistance in identifying and developing program opportunities with the "backyard" partner. As a result of this session, the presenter and participants will gain awareness of a valuable resource and learn the steps to build networks within the university.
